Olga Gallego Smith

I’m Olga Gallego-Smith, the founder of Linguasol. I am originally from Spain, though I spent my formative years in Venezuela. After a fulfilling career as an Applied Linguist at the University of Michigan, I’m now retired and enjoying life in Vieques PR with my husband, Doug, since 2015.
Translation is my specialty and passion, and I truly believe that while machine translation can be useful, it just can’t match the depth and nuance of human translation. Contrary to what some may think, there’s so much more to translation than just getting the words right. My work goes beyond the surface; I capture the cultural subtleties and the unspoken nuances that only a human can understand. Those little details and contextual meanings are what make the difference, and that’s something no machine can replicate.
My teaching approach is all about helping learners who have struggled in the past to find success. I specialize in working with those who may have tried to learn before but felt like they didn’t quite make it. I focus on building their self-confidence and addressing any obstacles they face. I create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can rediscover their love for learning and achieve their goals.
To help learners I use several effective strategies. First, I focus on building a strong rapport and trust, creating a safe space for you to express your concerns and challenges. I incorporate personalized learning plans that cater to your unique needs and learning style. I also emphasize positive reinforcement to boost your self-confidence and celebrate small victories along the way. Additionally, I integrate engaging and interactive activities to make learning enjoyable and relevant, helping you stay motivated and committed to your progress.
